Top HID Conversion Kit FAQ
-Does the 10,000K HID Kit run hotter then the 4,300k kit?
What... NO! “kelvin temperature” “k” sounds like its temperature as in heat but in the case of HID Xenon kits its referring to COLOR and not how hot it gets. You should also note that HID’s actually run cooler then halogen... Thats right
-Will a HID Conversion Kit melt my headlights?
Common we just covered this in the last question... No! The HID lighting system will run colder then the crappy halogen lights you got in your car right now. (Because halogen bulbs rely on heat to produce light and HID’s rely on a electric arc)
-Are HID Conversion systems illegal?
Thats hard to answer... because different headlight produce different beam patterns. A good rule of thumb is; if the car is newish with projector headlight it should handle the HID and produce a legal beam pattern. If the car is old with a reflector housing it most likely will produce a illegal beam pattern, so you would have to buy aftermarket headlight with proper projectors.
-Why do I need a “ballast” to make the HID’s work?
If you look closely at the bulb you will see no filament. The bulb has a gap that the electricity needs to jump and to do that jump it needs a big boost, thats where the ballast comes in. After the jump the ballast lowers the power to a minimum level needed to keep the arc going. (When you turn on your HID’s you will notice it produces a really bright light then dims down and later warms up to be slightly brighter.
-My car has DRL “Day Time Running Lights” and they are the lights I want to replace for HID’s will they work?
No! You will need to disable the DRL’s or get a relay wiring system with the HID’s but this will cause the HID’s to stay on all the time.
